• Applicants for Ghanaian passports must be Citizens of Ghana by Birth, naturalisation, Registration, Adoption or by any Enactment. Documentary evidence must be provided in support of any such claim.
• A Ghanaian passport is the only reliable and universally accepted travel and identification document for Ghanaians who travel abroad.
• Issued to Ghanaian citizens only, a Ghanaian passport reflects the identity of the applicant as determined by documentary evidence of citizenship and documents to support identity.
• Children under the age of 16 years must have an individual passport.

• Under current law, applicants must be Ghanaian nationals.

• Applicant should have evidence of Ghanaian citizenship, Ghanaian passport, birth certificate or national identity card.

• Applicant are required to submit the following documents;

a) Fully completed passport application form, filled in English and BLOCK LETTERS. Application form can be downloaded from this website.

b) Four recent passport size photographs.

c) Evidence of Ghanaian citizenship. Example, Ghanaian passport, Birth Certificate or National Identity Card.

d) Proof of payment.

PLEASE NOTE:

•An application for renewal of passport may be submitted six months to the date of expiry. An application for a new passport may also be submitted when the pages of current passport are all endorsed with visas/stamps.

•An application for a passport to replace a missing passport/lost passport shall submit a police report, in addition to the basic requirements for the issuance of a passport.

•An application for change of name, date of birth, place of birth, etc., shall submit the relevant legal supporting documents /certificates, in addition to the basic requirements for the issuance of a passport.

•It is not permitted by law for Ghanaians resident outside Ghana to instruct friends and relatives to acquire Ghana passports in Ghana on their behalf and either secretly carry the passports to them or send it to them by post. Any proxy passport that comes into the possession of this Embassy may be confiscated and a replacement passport will only be issued to the bearer after exhaustive investigations and with the approval of the Director of Passports in Accra

The application should be submitted with one (1) standard passport size photograph taken full face on a plain background within six months of the date of application without dark glasses or hat. The photograph should be certified as a true likeness of the applicant by the witness.</div>
